Dream Of Nightmare

Dream Of Nightmare

Creaturina has been dreaming of her infancy on Nightmare, the planet that is, unbeknownst to her, also her mother. She does not know why, after several millennia, she is suddenly dreaming of her strange beginnings. So far, they only involve her seemingly watching over her infant self…

Path Of Wonders

Path Of Wonders

One of the first really good science fiction books I read, when I was about 13, was The Weapon Shops of Isher, by A. E. vanVogt. I used to become completely immersed in books, then, in a way I no-longer can, age having jaded my sense of wonder. A character in The Weapon Shops of Isher, not the main character, but a very important, incidental character, gets tricked into being the counter-weight on a time sea-saw… he goes ever further back, then forward in time, dressed in some high-tech containment suit that protects him wherever he lands, in space, under water, whatever. Anyway, there are scenes in it where he lands on empty streets, far in the future, it’s always night, and if there are people around, they are always too far ahead for him to catch, before he gets sucked further back in time… eventually he gives up trying to find help. But those empty, dark streets and the alien-ness and strangeness, really¬†¬†affected my young imagination. I thought that might explain why I do images like this (:

Over Ancient Tombs 2

Over Ancient Tombs 2

Crystal creatures/machines, the size of the great pyramids, visit ancient stone monuments, at the dawn of history, downloading the data that set primitive humans on the path to space flight.

Over Ancient Tombs

Over Ancient Tombs

Imagine the sound of a thousand ton crystal wind chime, tinkling on a gentle dawn breeze… that’s what this gorgeous beast would sound like (:

It is said that merely to look upon the amulet is to court instant madness… must… look… away…

Apparently, he wasn’t mad before he found the amulet… he found it in a dream.
