Blink of an Eye

My latest girl singer crush. This song makes my throat ache. It’s so perfect to listen to when working on the newly developing Miho/Alice relationship. The studio/album version is my fave because you get to hear the gorgeous growl in her voice that doesn’t seem to register in any of the, still, beautiful, live versions. The only thing better than a powerful female singer is a powerful, growling female singer… Grace Slick, for instance… jeez, that girl could sing! Anyway, you can probably expect an Amanda Jenssen homage painting from me sometime soon. Also, anyhow, Miho and the Immortals is coming on nicely. I introduced Miho to the mix because Creaturina and Alice are just too, damned powerful/indestructible to have a decent story/character arch/development… Miho is delicious and totally helpless/vulnerable/gorgeous, she will soften our lethal Alice, and provide a weakness/achilles heal for the indomitable Alice/Creatuie combo. Still, if I was a bad thing, I’d seriously think twice before thinking she was an easy mark… wouldn’t you? If Alice loved you, would you feel vulnerable? I wouldn’t (:

Since posting this, and in my search for images of the gorgeous, hugely talented Amanda, I came across this. I am an inveterate Leonard fan, and particularly adore hallelujah, and knew, instantly, that Amanda could pull this off… and she does, easily. Actually, I think she could do it better (more power), but who am i to say?, just a besotted fan.

  1. One comment (I think it was on Amazon) mentioned that if you like Amy Winehouse and Adele you will love Amanda. I can definitely hear the similarities.

    • Hmmm… I definitely like Amy, never heard Adele… while Amy and Amanda both have great voices, I don’t think they are much alike, Amy never moved me the way Amanda does. I think people who say they are the same mean that Amy does a lot of cabaret/swing inspired stuff, and Amanda does some, too. I would never have likened them voice-wise, myself.

      • Yes, I think the comparison was to style, not voice, for Amy. More voice-like for Adele.

      • Checked out Adele… eep! Way to pop/soul for me! Can’t see the connection at all, sorry.
