Loving doing this! It’s the 4 day Easter weekend, and I’m chilling, painting and drinking beers, listening to Elle King, Gin Wigmore, Boh Runga, Tami Neilson and Linda Ronstadt, among others. Padme/Natalie is so gorgeous (:
Working on a portrait of the exquisite Natalie Portman as the doomed princess Padme.
Listening to Elle King, Gin Wigmore and Boh Runga (:
I recently watched The Quick and the Dead for the second time… I watched it when it first came out on DVD, back in 1995. I loved it then, and was not disappointed this time, either. Sharon Stone plays the awesome ‘Lady’, come to avenge her fathers murder, and avenge she does. I decided I had to paint ‘Lady’, and took several screen captures. This painting is of one of them… not the one I’m going to use, but I really liked her expression, and the general, ass-kicking feel of the whole image, so I did this as a kind of quick (couple of hours), inspirational warmup for the fabulous portrait I’m going to paint next. This painting, and the next one I’m going to do, are from the final moments in the film, where ‘Lady’ exacts her revenge in superb, against-the-odds style. Very much my kind of girl (:
Almost finished Arriane… plugging away at her beanie, at the moment. I’m trying to not indulge my penchant for obsessive detail with her beanie… she’s the subject, not her incredibly complex, knitted wool beanie! Still, I have to make it as detailed as, say, her hair, otherwise it won’t look right.
Anyway, loving painting this gorgeous person, and loving how the painting is progressing. The soundtrack for this has been the stunning EP by Audra Mae, ‘Haunt’, the equally awesome album ‘Memphis Blues’ by Cyndi Lauper, damn, that girl can sing!, and ‘The very best of Judy Collins’. All 3 of these woman have fabulous voices, and these are all fabulous albums (:
