  1. This background rules! Even the hard-edge style on the right side doesn’t diminish it.

    • Whilst I lack a fine arts degree, I do, however, have a degree, with honours, in graphic design. I spend hours on my works, carefully balancing every aspect of the visual elements… I always start with a well thought out vision of what I want to achieve. There is a narrative, here; it is a science fiction narrative. It is about alien technology and surreal/dreamlike reality, and, of course, loss of the self and transformation. There was never any possibility of ‘the hard edged style on the right’ diminishing the background… how could it, when they are one, carefully balanced piece? I spent hours creating the background, specifically for the foreground. I do not simply throw stuff together till I go ‘crikey! That looks neato!’

      • I, on the other hand, do have a fine arts degree–although it isn’t of much use to me. I have no talent whatsoever for graphic design, although I wish I did. But years of attempts have convinced me that my efforts range from useless to hopelessly mediocre. I do, however, “simply throw stuff together till I go ‘crikey! That looks neato!'” Which is why my work is all over the place until serendipity strikes. I’ve seldom been able to have a clear vision in my head of the finished product, and when I do, the product insists on turning out differently despite my intentions. Kudos to you for your ability to create a plan and stick to it until the end!
